Arrival Day – Sunday October 6

Sunday

Sunday is the day to check in to the hotel and check out where Base Camp will happen. We open registration in the afternoon so you can get acclimated before things kick off with the opening reception. You’ll love the views as we start our amazing journey.

Day 1 – Monday October 7

Monday Morning

Keynote: Going on Offense

Publishing as we know it won’t be saved. We have to take control of our destinies. That means winning over our audiences to value our efforts. It means winning over advertisers who can easily buy elsewhere. Scott Cunningham, who currently serves as Initiative Lead for NewsPassID/NewsNext at the Local Media Consortium and Chair of the Publisher Council at Brand Safety Institute as projects, is working every angle to see publisher success and transparency in the supply chain. Previously the Founder of the IAB Tech Lab, Scott will share where he sees opportunities for us to collaborate, the industry movement, and how we can go on offense.

Publishing is all about relationships: relationships with our audiences, advertisers, and ad tech. After an amazing keynote to start the day, we’ll dive into the famous Base Camp discussions that we have worked to improve upon. We heard your feedback and we’re dedicating more time to each topic and to organizing discussions into smaller, curated groups. All of that and more air in the agenda to meet with people. There are no pay-to-play sessions that you are forced to attend: you make your own agenda.

Monday morning topics include:

  • Data Strategies (organized by pub size, sales approach, and level of sophistication)
  • AI Impact and Implementation
  • What does a DSP see from your bid requests?
  • Privacy
  • Brand Safety
  • And more…

Monday Afternoon / Evening

Keynote: Media Literacy starts with Media

Media’s future depends on people understanding the value of the media they consume. Publishers have not articulated this well to our consumers and now must educate them on the importance of human-created fact-based journalism. Vanessa Otero will share her mission to help improve media literacy while helping advertisers support ad-supported journalism.

Founder, Ad Fontes Media

Publishers must maintain their connection to their audiences to survive the onslaught of the AI-driven Internet. So, let’s discuss the importance of media literacy and how we help humans find other humans to better understand what they consume online.

The afternoon keynote discussion will be followed by more breakout sessions focused on short-term and long-term revenue opportunities, amplifying publishers’ voices across the ecosystem, and aligning to a common set of values.

This evening is the time to let loose and swing some clubs at The Hanger Club – Denver’s newest social club – a combination of the coolest sports bar and a premium golf experience. Play iconic courses, have a craft cocktail, or throw some bags – there is something for everyone. Play strong or go home!

Day 2 – Tuesday October 8

Tuesday Morning

There are some big discussions on the table for Tuesday.

First, what is premium, and why has it become a divisive topic? Value is in the eye of the buyer, but why are we so averse to being told what that is? Can’t we as publishers define the term?

Second, we need to talk about measuring success. That’s a pretty broad topic, but as we do at Base Camp, we’ll organize around what discussion about measuring success will yield the best outcomes.

Tuesday will include a new addition to Base Camp in the form of publisher-led case studies. Whether it’s working with a specific partner, association, or an internal project, we’ll have pubs share their work and then dive into group discussions on relevant topics. We can’t wait to see what people want to share!

Tuesday Afternoon / Evening

Our activities are always a notch above the rest and Denver is a great place to create experiences you’ll never forget. Be it golfing, hiking, rappelling, imbibing, cooking, or elevating*, you’ll want to take the time to make it happen.

Join us tonight high above the city lights for Funky Alien Night. You heard us right. Wear white, or your favorite alien outfit for this evening full of Beeler.Tech high jinks!

Day 3 – WEDNESDAY October 9

Wednesday

On Wednesday, we’re bringing the buy-side into the conversation. We’re hoping to bring at least four representatives from agencies, brands, platforms, etc., to help us workshop (yes, workshop) some of the issues we all face. Let’s have some deep-dive conversations and align on how to work better together.

We’ll end Wednesday by wrapping it up and discussing what comes next before sending you home. We recommend trying to sleep on the plane so you can hit the ground running on Thursday with new ideas for transforming your career, your department, and your company.
